History & Origin:

Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) is a national, professional, non-profit making Society registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. First started in 1941 as the Association of Principals of Technical Institutions (APTI), it was converted into "Indian Society for Technical Education" in 1968 with a view to enlarge its activities to advance the cause of technical education. It has its headquarters at NEW DELHI and has over 430 chapters operative at various educational institutions throughout the country.
 

Objectives:

The major objective of the ISTE is to assist and contribute to the development of top quality professional engineers and technicians needed by industries and other organizations.
 

The Local Chapter:

The local students’ chapter of ISTE in CBIT, started in 1993, aims at coordinating various programs to improve the quality of students' engineering education. This chapter helps prepare students for the future by conducting coaching classes for competitive exams, job interviews etc., seminars and workshops in self development, exploring possibilities for self employment and job opportunities, guidance on matters of higher education facilities, visits to industries and awareness on social, cultural and ethical norms and values. ISTE students’ chapter has around 300 members in CBIT and is run by an effective executive committee under the expert guidance of Dr.V.V.Nageshwara Rao, faculty advisor, Civil Engineering Department.

         INDIAN INSTITUTE OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERS (IIChE)

 

History & Origin:

The Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, popularly abbreviated as IIChE, is the apex professional society of Chemical Engineers in India. The headquarters of this body is at Kolkata. IIChE is a confluence of streams of professionals from academia, research institutes and industry. It provides them the appropriate forum for joint endeavors, hand-in-hand, to work for human well being through application of chemical engineering and allied sciences. The IIChE chapter of CBIT was started in September 1999.

 

Objectives:

The IIChE chapter of CBIT caters to the needs and activities of Chemical Engineers. It arranges lectures on topics related to Chemical Engineering education and profession. It arranges seminars, workgroups, ground discussions promotes interaction between the institute and the industry. It also guides the Chemical Engineering students in their career planning and pursuing their higher studies.
